Some people have a theory that they should sleep in excess before the Petanque Marathon, while others feel they should have a normal schedule and then slide into the marathon as-is.
My advice: no excessive caffeine or sugars to destablize bodily levels and result in a "sugar coma" crash.
Oh - and sunscreen, layered clothing, comfy shoes, socks to change, and a wide brimmed hat.

I think that You should get your daily eight hours sleep up to the Event but the Key is when you get a break/rest pace yourself and use it wisely by resting/sleeping, feet up if you can and a good massage if available (let me know if we have a designated masseuse which is very important).

I've read that chewing sunflower seeds really helps - they offer nutrition in little constant amounts, and are available in all sorts of flavors (even some with caffeine!) - and help while away the time.
